Yo, I'm JM, but you might also know me on the internet as Miss Retsuko. I am an 18 year old with ASD, born and raised in the Philippines.I am a BSEMC Game Dev student from the CIIT College of Arts and Technology, and formerly a Media & Visual Arts Student from their Senior High School branch. What I am most known for, however, is that I am also a content creator for the local fighting game community. I currently play competitive fighting games for the organizations Dandy Vampires Strike Again and Archangel Esports.Outside of school, I do a lot of things—from arts, to content creation, and e-sports. Currently, I play competitive fighting games under two organizations: Archangel Esports and Dandy Vampires Strike Again. I have also shoutcasted for the monthly fighting game league: Geek+Pop Fight Club. Likewise, the content I focus on is solely centered around fighting games—alongside my artistic passion and advocacy to keep “striving for more.”I am incredibly passionate about all the talents I have gained, just as much as I love learning new skills like game development—hence why I am grateful for what these have done for me in my personal journey. In a nutshell, I am what many might call a "jack of all trades". I may not be as committed as most people, but what matters to me the most is that I enjoy the life I live, and what I am able to create for others through both my art and passion for fighting games. My dreams are never fixed, and I believe diversity is a good trait to have. I play to have fun, not just win.
"Don't be afraid, keep striving."Though this personal motto of mine is initially meant to be a gag referencing my favorite game—Guilty Gear Strive, there is a genuine meaning behind these words. For a long time, I have been always afraid of trying new things—afraid that I may not find any sort of enjoyment in them. It made me question myself. What did I really want to pursue? What were the things that really made me happy? Then when fighting games came into my life, so did the community. Upon feeling the welcoming, yet incredibly passionate nature of the people, it struck something in me. I felt like I belonged, I could be happy and be myself around people regardless of our differences. As time went by, I became less afraid—whether it’s competing in a tournament or learning how to write a program for the first time.

STRENGTHS
I am incredibly dedicated to self-improvement and open-minded towards new things, along with the perspectives of the people around me. I consider myself to be incredibly outspoken, but level-headed—as I am someone who prefers to observe before I am able to express and idea or find a way around difficult obstacles that may hinder my abilities to think and decide.WEAKNESSES
Being someone under the spectrum, I have been a slow learner all my life—which often left me frustrated that I couldn’t understand things better than most people. I can be hesitant sometimes about my decisions—given that I have a habit of acting impulsively, which I am well aware can lead to undesired results. I can also get irritated fast when something doesn’t go my way.INTERESTS

WHAT I ENJOY
I am someone who finds enjoyment in expressing myself through my creations, be it the characters I draw, the stories I write, or the way I express my thoughts and emotions over the microphone when I’m shoutcasting.WHAT I'M GOOD AT
I am proud to say that I am what could be considered, a “jack of all trades”—having tackled nearly three different industries: multimedia arts, game development, and e-sports. My main gimmick has always been drawing and gaming, and eventually I expanded to different talents to broaden my horizons.WHAT I'M WEAKEST AT
Despite my unwavering passion towards all of the things I’m good at, a part of me has always remained anxious and reluctant to try new things—to take risks. In terms of academics, I have always been incredibly prone to burnout and procrastination—which is only made worse by being a slow learner.WHY I WANT TO IMPROVE
I genuinely believe that if I don’t try, if I don’t take the initiative, I will never see that opportunity ever again. But now, I want to really see if I got what it takes—to stop thinking that I do not have the potential for much greater things.WHAT'S IN IT FOR MY FUTURE?
Being someone who has tried a variety of potential career paths has somewhat left my future looking like a blank slate. Though, I do not see this as some sort of problem. If anything, I think it’s a good thing—it gives me hope, it allows me to follow my heart without worrying about the future. And I believe that life is boring if you don’t try multiple things at once.
